Tehran - TARNA:
According to the Iranian Poetry News
Agency - Tarna, Keyvan Golzarnia, the director of Tarna News Agency, elaborated
on the success of Tarna's media station at the 35th Tehran International Book
Fair in a note. He regarded this event as a significant literary occurrence.
Tarna's media station was the first
scene of poetry reading and a friendly gathering of literary figures in the
35-year history of the book fair. This historic event was made possible by the
beloved poets and esteemed professional journalists of Tarna. Poetry and poets
have always been fundamental in keeping the flickering publishing industry
alive. Despite being the flagbearers of the most authentic Iranian art, they have
had minimal presence in media platforms.
Persian poetry is, in fact, the
primary cultural tool of the great Iranian nation for cultural diplomacy in the
civilization of Greater Iran. Poetry can serve as a common ground for cultural
Iran and the friendship of regional nations. Persian luminaries and celebrities
were introduced to the world solely through poetry, and even the treasure of
the Persian language is a legacy of this noble art revived by the great
Ferdowsi.
Thus, poetry is not only an authentic
art and a powerful tool in our hands but also shapes our identity.
Unfortunately, current cultural policies and the industrialization of art have
constrained the introduction of this great art, distancing poets and literary
figures from public platforms.
As the first international poetry
media in Iran and the world, Tarna saw it as its mission to innovate and create
a suitable media capacity, providing a prestigious and respectful space for
poets, researchers, and literary associations. For the first time, it
established the Iranian Poetry Media Station in collaboration with the Ministry
of Culture and Islamic Guidance's Center for the Development of Cyberspace.
This event brought such joy to the hearts of poets and poetry enthusiasts that
even we became more enthusiastic and determined to introduce Persian poetry and
its esteemed poets to the world by participating in international dimensions
and global festivals.
During this golden opportunity, we
managed to take a significant step in the "media-poetry" domain with
over 80 hours of literary programming, including live broadcasts of sessions.
We held 40 ceremonies honoring poetry and literature activists, hosted over 15
domestic and international literary associations, more than 15 specialized and
research sessions in literature, and 10 unveiling ceremonies at the 35th book
fair.
It was also a valuable opportunity
to connect cultural managers and literary figures to facilitate cultural
management, strengthening the foundations of independent and community-based
cultural activities. Tarna hosted esteemed members of the Islamic Consultative
Assembly, managers and deputies of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic
Guidance, cultural attachés of the Indian and Afghan embassies, and managers
and secretaries of governmental and non-governmental organizations.
